In this chapter, the next morning after Richard's tumultuous night with Kathy and Heidi, Amanda suddenly does not show up for work, making things extremely complicated for the diner's employees, while Kathy appears stuck in a state of confusion over her sexuality - which still does not stop her from continuing to tease Richard by showing up to work without underwear. When Amanda finally turns up, her disposition seems to have completely changed - and it is not altogether clear for what reason.
